MINAWAO CAMP

About

What is Solidarity for all?

The far north of Cameroon is home to more than 150 000 refugees. 60 000 of them are housed in shelters for refugees, with Minawao being the largest. Nevertheless, they are dispersed among the region's five cities: Maltam, Fotokol, Biamo, Makary, and Mozogo.

Aslyums who were forced to leave behind their homes and possessions now have a more safe and secure place to live thanks to the establishment of these camps. The UNHCR offers support to the refugees in the Minawao camp, which contains more than 60000 Nigerian refugees with 62% of the population under 18 years old along with 52% of women. There are 52% of muslims, 37% of protestants and 4% of catholics and other religions

Along with these refugees there are also the need to take care of any vulnerable person called Internal Displaced Person living in the region thus who live under $1 daily.

The World Food Programme remains resolute in its commitment to assist people by providing food each month. Additionally, there are cash banking transfers. Internally Displaced Persons have basic needs like shelter, food, and healthcare which are met in order to stay alive and inhibit social, cultural, and security consequences on themselves and host communities. However, these small allowances given by United Nations agencies do not allow them to become less assisted and more independent.

The government is responsible for providing the basis for the displaced people because they have lost their sources of income, but there are not enough resources to do so. As a result, they rely on the logistics and resources of the United Nations, which are funded primarily through international aid and donations. The government fund is frequently insufficient to meet the rising demand of IDPs in the nation, which leads to a shortage of manpower, goods, and infrastructure equipment.

Solidarity For All offers housing to families. The Minawao camp is permitted to occupy more than 60 acres by the authorities. More than 11 non-governmental organisations, including the UNHCR, focus primarily on helping these refugees. We are a Non For Profit Organisation which provides non-food and food items to refugees living in the Far north region of Cameroon, who escaped the violent Boko Haram regime.
